Safety First for Female Joggers

I love to run or jog and try to everyday. I feel that this form of exercise is like therapy for me but without the cost. Running helps me to clear my mind and let go of all the stress life sometimes brings. However, this form of exercise can bring some scary moments when you feel volnerable due to being alone without any way of protecting yourself if an assault or attack was to occur. I have come up with a few ideas that could help make your daily run or jog less worrisome. There are many new tech gadgets out there and some are great and keeping you safe. I found the Wearsafe Tag that is a device that you clip onto your running belt or waistband and is connected to an app. If you get into a scary situation then you just click the device. Then the device will send live audio and your location to preselected friends and family. Also, I found Sabre Runner Personal Alarm which is a belt that as an alarm that is so loud it can travel father than your voice. All you have to do is will the ring to activate. This belt is good if you like to run or jog in remote areas or on trails that have spots where there is not a lot of people around. Another item I found is Tomtom Spark 3 Cardio , this tracker as a GPS tracker that tracks your footsteps as you leave them and guides you back to your starting point so you will never get lost again. You can also preload trails in unfamiliar areas. I feel these three devices are a great addition to any runner or joggers routine.

Super Genes by Deepak Chopra M.D. and Rudolph E. Tanzi PH.D. Book Review

The book Super Genes by New York Times Bestselling Authors Deepak Chopra and Dr. Rudolph Tanzi explores epigenetics, conscious behavior of the environment and how these interact to affect your health and well-being. After reading this book, I felt there is a lot of loose ends. Some were tied with logical facts that help you to understand how you are a part of something that is much more ancient that most scientists give credit to. I feel this book does a lot of repeating throughout the chapters. It does explain how what you eat and how you deal with stress effects your overall health. Also, it takes into account your DNA and how your parents and other relatives plays a big part of your health. Long before you are born your DNA will determine your future health risks and problems. I feel this book is a good read even though it is repetitive.  I do like how this book and the authors explain different cases. They tell you about real people and how that person’s life was changed, sometimes for the better. Also, they go in depth about case studies and experiments, I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for by honest and unbiased review. I do not think this is a book that I would have purchased on my own. I feel that receiving the book free is why I read this book. I do like reading books about health and ways to improve your health, However, I just was not that impressed with this book.

Fitness, for me, is not just about the workout, but overall muscle health. I need to have a positive mental state so that I will have the will power and want to better myself. I experience aches and pains from my many different types of workout routines. I always like to switch things up so I will not get bored. I am unaware of what is causing my discomfort and pain so I am not sure how to treat it. Ginger Detox Water Recipe

Ginger is a powerful detoxifier that can increase your metabolism. Lemons are also considered to be a detoxifier, since they have a natural diuretic that helps to remove toxins from your body.

  • 2 lemons
  • 2 inch (5cm) ginger root
  • 1 quart (1 liter) spring water

Grate the ginger and cut the lemon into wedges, then add them to a pitcher. Refrigerate for three hours before serving. Add ice if desired.

Lime Mint Water Recipe

Water that is infused with lime is a good way to boost your metabolism. Limes contain a lot of vitamin C which is also good to prevent colds. I love adding this water to my diet no only for the detox benefits but the health benefits as well.

  • 2 limes
  • 2 quarts (2 liters) sparkling water
  • 1/cup fresh chopped mint

Slice the lime into thick slices and place at the bottom of pitcher. Then pour the sparkling water and add chopped mint. Cover and refrigerate for at least three hours. Strain the liquid before serving.
