A balancing point, a weight transfer where things even out and we decide to call life in all of its gutsandglory: Enough. What I have is enough. Life is tenuous and precious. I say that with certainty. And I say with even more certainty: that is why I celebrate the every day.” From cultivating your inner self to creating community and the perfect homemade latte, Happy Pretty Messy inspires a life that flourishes with charm, color, caffeine and, most importantly, courage. Finding value in these things might be the most important thing you do, so grab this book and dig in today.

How To Hang A Witch by Adriana Mather

20161214_163439

I have seen a lot a talk and reviews about How To Hang A Witch by Adriana Mather and I knew that I had to read this book. Adriana Mather is a twelfth generation of Mathers in America going all the way back to the Salem Witch Trials and the first Thanksgiving.  This adds a lot to the content of this book letting you feel like you have a true insist to Salem and the Salem Witch Trials. How To Hang A Witch is a real page turner that once you start reading you will not put this book down until you finish. The story is full of twists and turns with an unexpected ending. This book is a must read for anyone who loves to snuggle up in bed on a cold night and enjoy a great adventurous story. How To Hang A Witch is a great mystery and romance novel.

(From the inside book cover) Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were? If dealing with that weren’t enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with the Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it’s Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself.

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows Review

IMG_1783

I loved My Lady Jane! I wasn’t sure going into this book what it would be like.  I’ve read other books by these authors and had a feeling the chemistry would be magical. And YES IT WAS! The story is a retelling about Lady Jane Grey, but with a twist. It is a complete retelling of the story. Edward, Jane and Gifford were fantastic characters that made me laugh. This book has great characters and FANTASTIC storytelling! A must read for anyone who loves books with a historical theme. I cannot wait to see what these authors come up with next!

A Thunder Road Novel series by Katie McGarry Review

First of all, I am a huge fan of young adult books. I saw Nowhere But Here in the book store and after reading the back of the book I knew I had to read more. This is the first book by Katie McGarry that I have read and I am in love with her work. I finished Nowhere But Here in one night! Yes, I stayed up all night because I was so involved in the story line that I could not put it down. The narrative is split between the two main characters which makes you want to read the next chapter to find out what happens next. It is truly easy to get lost in their world. After I finished reading the first book, I went to her website and found the second book in this series which is Walk The Edge and I ordered it right away. This book is just as good as the first, a real page turner so to say. It is easy to fall in love with the characters and their way of life. Once again, I read this book in one night. Now I am impatiently waiting on the next book in her series which I already have preordered. If you haven’t read this series, you should check them out. They are a must read!

First Post

Welcome to my blog! Since this is the first post I thought I would let you know a little about myself. I am a stay at home single mother of a seventeen-year-old. I enjoy quilting, cooking and photography. My daughter and I work together in our Etsy shop. We have fun sewing and quilting because it allows us time to talk and stay connected. I also have a Yorkie named Koda Bear who is more like a human than a puppy at least that’s what he thinks. We love to spoil him with treats, toys and lots of clothes. He also is the subject of a lot of our photoshoots we do and of course he loves the attention. I started this blog to share my interests, products reviews, and DIY projects.
