I read American Assassin by Vince Flynn several months ago and loved it! I decided to reread this book after learning they made it into a movie that is set to premiere in September 2017 starring Dylan O’Brien as Mitch Rapp and Michael Keaton as Stan Hurley. Vince Flynn has done an outstanding job creating the character Mitch Rapp making him someone you can relate to. Everyone at some point in their life as lost a loved one. Rapp is recruited by an elite CIA group and decides to join as a way to get revenge for the loss of his longtime girlfriend that was killed during a terrorist attack. He is then sent to a training camp where he meets Stan Hurley for the first time. There is a lot of friction between Rapp and Hurley that is explained why throughout the book. This book is very action packed as it follows Rapp who is sometimes out of control while Hurley tries to rein him in and teach him the rules or sometimes lack thereof. American Assassin is a number one New York Times Bestseller. I can’s wait to see the movie! If you want a really good read, you can get your copy HERE.
(from amazon.com) #1 New York Times bestselling author Vince Flynn introduces the young Mitch Rapp on his first assignment, a mission of vengeance that made him a CIA super agent. Two decades after the Cold War, Islamic terrorism is on the rise, and CIA Operations Director Thomas Stansfield forms a new group of clandestine operatives—men who do not exist—to meet this burgeoning threat abroad before it reaches America’s shores. Stansfield’s protégée, Irene Kennedy, finds the ideal candidate in the wake of the Pan Am Lockerbie terrorist attack. Among the thousands grieving the victims is Mitch Rapp, a gifted college athlete, who wants only one thing: retribution. Six months of intense training prepares him to devastate the enemy with brutal efficiency, leaving a trail of bodies from Istanbul and across Europe, to Beirut. But there, the American assassin will need every ounce of skill and cunning to survive the war-ravaged city and its deadly terrorist factions.
