future leadersFuture Leaders of Nowhere by Emily O’Beirne was released March 2017 by Ylva Publishing. This is the first book that I have read from author Emily O’Beirne. I find her writing style to be different than most young adult authors because it as a real naturalness or freshness. This book is really relatable and has a warm, loving overall feel. I found myself laughing a lot as I read this book. O’Beirne does an outstanding job in creating the setting and story line for this novel. She has created a group of characters that you can relate to or they remind you of someone you know. I found this book to be a very good read and well written. This book does have diversity and shows how teens deal with such issues. Earthquake Cake Recipe

  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 box german chocolate cake mix
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 8ox package softened cream cheese
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • ½ cup melted butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease bottom of 13×9 pan.

Mix pecans and coconut, sprinkle in bottom of pan.

Prepare cake mix according to package directions.

Pour mixture over coconut and pecans.

Mix vanilla, cream cheese, powdered sugar and butter until smooth.

Spoon over cake batter.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes.

No frosting is needed.

Gooey Bars-Squares Recipe

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick butter (melted)
  • 1 egg

Mix well and pat into a well-greased 9×13 pan.

Topping

  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 8oz package cream cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp. vanilla

Mix well and pour over cake mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Allow to cool and cut into squares.

I have seen a lot a talk and reviews about How To Hang A Witch by Adriana Mather and I knew that I had to read this book. Adriana Mather is a twelfth generation of Mathers in America going all the way back to the Salem Witch Trials and the first Thanksgiving.  This adds a lot to the content of this book letting you feel like you have a true insist to Salem and the Salem Witch Trials. How To Hang A Witch is a real page turner that once you start reading you will not put this book down until you finish. The story is full of twists and turns with an unexpected ending. This book is a must read for anyone who loves to snuggle up in bed on a cold night and enjoy a great adventurous story. How To Hang A Witch is a great mystery and romance novel.

Easy Banana Bread Recipe

  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 12 ripe bananas
  • 2 cups finely chopped nuts

Cream the butter, sugar and eggs. Sift the salt, baking soda and flour. Then in a separate bowl mash the bananas. Add the bananas to the creamed mixture and stir thoroughly. Mix in the flour and the finely chopped nuts. Pour the mixture into 4 well-greased bread pans and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Baked Potato Soup

  • 1 quart chicken stock
  • 2 pounds baking potatoes
  • ½ pound yellow onions
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 baked potato
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 ounces cheddar, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons scallions, for garnish
  • 1 sprig dill, for garnish

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a heavy 1 ½ gallon crock pot, heat chicken stock. Add thyme, salt and pepper. In a food processor, puree raw potatoes and onions. Add to stock. Simmer slowly for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Add whipping cream and diced baked potato. (If soup becomes too thick, then with water). Sale and pepper to taste.

Optional: Ladle hot soup into an oven proof serving bowl. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon and onions. Place under the broiler until cheese is melted.
