Chrissy à la Carte by Genevieve Lerner was published on May 8th, 2018. Chrissy’s life has completely fallen apart and if she doesn’t figure it out soon, she’ll definitely be homeless, broke, and a giant failure for the rest of her life. Probably.
A year after college graduation, Chrissy ends up where she hoped she would never find herself: back on her parents’ doorstep. She magically lands a job at the Netflix show “Let’s Cook! with Derrick Longjohns,” and prays it will be a one-way ticket to her dream culinary school.
But her job turns out to be nothing like she imagined, especially when she runs into a very attractive, very bicep-y stranger. Unfortunately, she is Clumsy McAwkwardson, and has a bad habit of spilling Fanta all over herself. Super attractive.
Now, she just has to pretend to be a good employee. And stay on Mom’s good side. And impress her perfect sister, Paige. And help plan Grandma’s (seventh) wedding. And somehow, some way, convince everyone that she has it all under control. No biggie.
About the author: Genevieve is a traveler, writer, actor, and the mother of a very fluffy cat. She is a native of Rochester, NY, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from the University at Buffalo, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is also a graduate of the Second City Training Program in Chicago, where she perfected her comedy writing skills. Genevieve has written multiple plays that have been performed onstage, and runs her own travel blog at http://www.yestonowhere.com. In her free time, she enjoys playing saxophone, copying Bob Ross landscapes, and reading anything she can get her hands on. She is a proud supporter of the Oxford comma.
My thoughts: Genevieve Lerner has written a hilarious fast-paced read that is the perfect beach or lazy day summer read. She writes with sassy sarcasm and cheeky wit that takes this chick -lit to the next level. A book that is hard to put down, drawing you in from the beginning.
