This Summer by Katlyn Duncan was published on July 9th 2014 by Carina UK.. Synopsis: Before college, before responsibilities, Hadley Beauman and best friend Lily are determined to have a summer to remember. There will be all the usual dramas – ex-boyfriends who don’t seem to know what ‘ex’ means, pesky younger brothers with unrequited crushes, but what Hadley didn’t anticipate was the out-of-the-blue return of the seriously hot boy-next-door, Will Carson. The boy who broke her heart when he skipped town two years ago.
Will may have shot up a foot and filled out (oh yes), but inside he carries the weight of guilt – for leaving, for coming back… Now he’s just passing through to tie up loose ends but it’s clear the old chemistry still crackles between him and Hadley. Trouble is, it’s built on two years of lies… This summer might just be the best time of their lives, but is Hadley ready for everything to change – again?
About the author (from Goodreads.com): I’ve been writing and reading since I can remember. My fondest memories were pushing mom out of the house to get the latest Goosebumps installment. Even though I went to school and worked in the field of science, my head has always been in the clouds. Outside of writing, I enjoy spending time with my hubs, pup, and sometimes a good rom com.
My thoughts: This Summer is the perfect beach read! I really enjoyed getting to know the main characters, Will and Hadley and all the drama that comes with them. Duncan writes a lovely story that takes place during summer that is full of love, hope, heartache and laughter. I love the setting and feel that it is perfect for this young adult love story. This book will have you reliving your old high school crushes and first loves. Overall, this is a beautiful and charming romance novel that I enjoyed reading. I look forward to more from this author and this series. **I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.**
