Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves was released on March 28, 2017 by Knopf Books for Young Readers and is a young adult fantasy novel. I have heard a lot about this book. When I was given the chance to read it , I knew I had to! The author, Rosalyn Eves, does an incredible job creating and writing this novel. Eves helps to acquaint readers with a part of history that many authors do not often written about in young adult literature. I was really impressed with the cover and loved the choice of colors with the layout. While reading the book I noticed that the characters are interesting and magical. I feel this book is the start on an amazing series and cannot wait to read the next book! Anna Arden wanted nothing more but to fit into Luminate society where she and her family belongs. She wants to be able to cast spells and wield magic. She really wants to have a future where she is meant to be. The only problem with her desires is that she doesn’t have the ability to control the magic. She cannot seem to follow the rules and because of this she must accept her fate, her future. Anna is forced to escape with her grandmother to Hungary, which is a place she is not familiar. Her relatives that she doesn’t know live here. They all speak a language that she just does not know. Everything makes her feel like her world is in a down world spiral until she meets a very handsome boy named Gabor. This new friendship gives Anna hope that maybe this wasn’t the end, but rather a beginning. I will leave my review there because I do not want to spoil the ending. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it. **I received a complimentary copy from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.**
SYNOPSIS: Sixteen-year-old Anna Arden is barred from society by a defect of blood. Though her family is part of the Luminate, powerful users of magic, she is Barren, unable to perform the simplest spells. Anna would do anything to belong. But her fate takes another course when, after inadvertently breaking her sister’s debutante spell—an important chance for a highborn young woman to show her prowess with magic—Anna finds herself exiled to her family’s once powerful but now crumbling native Hungary.
Her life might well be over. In Hungary, Anna discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. Not the people around her, from her aloof cousin Noémi to the fierce and handsome Romani Gábor. Not the society she’s known all her life, for discontent with the Luminate is sweeping the land. And not her lack of magic. Isolated from the only world she cares about, Anna still can’t seem to stop herself from breaking spells. As rebellion spreads across the region, Anna’s unique ability becomes the catalyst everyone is seeking. In the company of nobles, revolutionaries, and Romani, Anna must choose: deny her unique power and cling to the life she’s always wanted, or embrace her ability and change that world forever.
